Because it really is personal…

I changed my mind.

Last post I said something about formica countertops. Scratch that, I’m going a different route. Ever since I was old enough to notice them (7 or so), I have liked those phenolic resin countertops they use in laboratories. Sweet Daddio just remodeled his lab at work, and used those countertops. Solid black they are, so dark it’s like a black hole. Resistant to heat, chemicals, scratching, and easily installable and fixable in the eventsomeone takes a chainsaw to them. That’s what I’ve dreamed of having since I was 7. So that’s what I am going to get. He called the company that makes them (custom to your needs) and they’ll cost less than corian, and only slightly more than formica.

I compromised on the other 2 kitchens SD built. I’m not compromising. I will get the cabinets I want, the floor, and the countertop. The stove, as well. I’m content with our existing fridge and dishwasher.

By golly I am going to have me some black phenolic resin countertops. And brushed nickels lights and hardware on the cabinets.

If they can ship them to you, all your custom sizes big enough to park a bus on, they can ship them to me, who is NOT out in the middle of nowhere, with normal sized counters. Don’t let them tell you otherwise.
