Because it really is personal…

Friday Night at the Toot’s…or…you self-indulgent huzzy!

So, SD called me 3-ish, and made a noise about taking me on a date, would I please think about what I’d like to do! So I did. We bribed #2 to be in charge of a very low-maintenance #4, and went to dinner. Sushi at Nikko’s. I had a crunch roll (crispy fried shrimp and cucumber) with spicy on the side, and a California roll (perfectly buttery avocado and crab) with wasabi. Yum. I mean, really YUM. SD has the same thing, with a liter of Sapporo beer (tastes like Bud only more so). My only complaint is the crunch rolls tend to be 20% bigger than my mouth, so I have to take 2 bites and the second one falls apart and makes a mess and there’s just no elegant way to eat something that’s 20% bigger than your mouth and made mostly of rice.

After dinner we went to a couple of car dealerships and scoped out trucks. Sweet Daddio needs a Truck, something manlier than the one I inherited from Grandad, which is of the hamster-wheel school of automotive engineering. So, we looked at the Tacomas- he wants a 4 door truck, to replace the van, since we don’t really need a 7 passenger vehicle anymore. Tacomas get rawther lousy gas mileage, even tho they’re supposed to be really nice. Kinda pricey too, at $27,000. More than either of us is willing to pay for a truck. Then we looked at Chevys. The Silverado is nice, but he isn’t sure he wants a full size truck. Well, of course he does, he’s a full size man, but at $40,000, way more than we want to pay. So, he’s thinking maybe the Colorado, much more reasonably priced and not terribly small like our little Sonoma. And nicer priced at $24,000. So I’m thinking maybe him and me will go to to NeSmith Select or Cleve White and find a used Colorado, 2 or 3 years old, and half the price of a new one.

Oh- we also went to Lowe’s, for work-related cleaning supplies.

Ok, so it wasn’t what the average big City dweller would call a Hot Date, but y’know, we got to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company and that’s all that matters.

After the car shopping and Lowe’s, we went to Dairy Queen, where I got a Strawberry sundae (YUM!) and he got a Peanut Buster Parfait, and then we took the long way home.

What happened after that is nobody’s business.

No matter what we’re doing, my husband and I have a great time when it’s just the two of us. Sounds like you guys had a great evening.

We have a friend who owns a two year old Colorado (he purchased it new). He really likes it. His previous truck was a Silverado.

Have you thought of checking out a used Silverado? Rusty has a ‘97 Silverado. It still runs great. One time when he had to take it to the mechanic for something, she (yes, she!) was begging him to sell it to her. Naturally he did not.

Since I have a 19 mile (each way) commue to work, the gas mileage difference is a factor. I have looked at Silverados, but since I fit in the Colorado nicely (not to be assumed when you are 6′4″ and weigh 275) I’m going for the better mileage. Silverados are great trucks (I’m a die hard Chevy fan).

Hey- Indiana Mom- tell them about the truck I drove in High School……
