I switched to crutches today, unsanctioned by the Authorities, but it’s much nicer to be able to go up the stairs without relying on the help of someone else. I took a shower without assistance, and I am very much happier (tho exhausted) for the effort.
The contact dermatitis has settled down, thankfully. I’d rather suffer pain than itch.
However, I still can’t go to the kitchen, fix myself a bowl of cottage cheese and oranges, and carry it to the living room to eat. So I’m still relying on the kindness of others.
Which totally chaps me.
I hate relying on others. It’s imposing, even if they are willing to do it.
Tonight, I’m going to try sleeping on my side for a bit. Haven’t been able to do that, and I despise sleeping on my back because I snore like a drunk lumberjack. Then SD gets all worried that I’m going to just quit breathing altogether and then he’d have to do something with my body and Georgia doesn’t sanction taxidermy on humans. So, I need to sleep on my side for both of our sakes.
You know what I am looking forward to above anything else, right at this moment?
Being able to use the toilet, like a normal person, with no raised seat or handlebars, no anatomical contradictions causing unladylike messes. Just a normal toilet, sitting on it like a normal person with a National Geographic and a roll of Cottonelle.
A righeous dump would be good, too, something happening in a natural way without harsh stimulents or thick orange beverage-like substance.

Thinking ahead a little, with (hopefully) encouragement your blogmates, may I humbly suggest this:

Way mo’betta than crutches. You could even take the dogs with you in the handlebar basket.
Comment by Bro. Scott October 11, 2007 @ 8:40 pmOh! Those are elegant! I like the first one, can see riding it in flowered pants.
Comment by rootietoot October 11, 2007 @ 8:50 pmIndelicate of me to comment on this, perhaps, but I hate the thought of you suffering. Red River Cereal> (hot); Uncle Sam’s Cereal (cold).
They have Uncle Sam’s in grocery stores here, but I haven’t found Red River anywhere local. It’s Canadian.
Both have a similar “colon blast” effect. Red River is yummy; Uncle Sam’s, not so much, but some people like it. When all else fails, a Krispy Kreme usually does it for me.
Comment by alphabitch October 12, 2007 @ 3:02 pmI haven’t seen those 2 cereals…I’ll look. rather, I’ll have my staff look. I am blessed (cursed?) with a cast iron colon, and have yet to find a food that will induce it to produce.
